Embark on a life-changing 8-day journey that combines humanitarian work with an exhilarating
Kenyan safari experience. This unique adventure allows you to make a meaningful impact on the
lives of orphaned children while also exploring Kenya’s breathtaking wildlife and landscapes.
Spend three days engaging in missionary work at a children’s home in Nairobi, followed by an
unforgettable four-day safari through some of Kenya’s most iconic national parks, including
Lake Nakuru and the world-famous Maasai Mara.
Your journey begins as you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Our representatives will greet you with traditional Kenyan hospitality and transfer you to your city hotel. After settling in, embark on a city orientation tour, exploring Nairobi's Central Business District. You'll view key landmarks such as the shopping areas, parliament buildings, Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), and the historic Railway station. The rest of the day is at your leisure, with dinner on your own at the hotel. Overnight at Nairobi Safari Club or equivalent, on a bed and breakfast basis.
For the next three days, immerse yourself in rewarding missionary work at a local children's home. After a hearty breakfast each morning, you'll depart for the home where you'll be warmly welcomed by the management. Following an orientation, you'll engage in various activities with the orphaned children, such as teaching, painting, feeding, playing, and cooking. This is your chance to make a real difference in these children's lives. At the end of your volunteer period, you'll be awarded a commemorative certificate for your charitable work. Each evening, you'll return to your hotel in Nairobi for overnight stay.
After your inspiring work at the children's home, it's time to experience Kenya's natural wonders. Begin your safari adventure with an early breakfast before driving to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its millions of pink flamingos. Check into Lake Nakuru Flamingo Lodge and relax before lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive around the "pink lake," searching for flamingos, black rhinos, giraffes, lions, and the elusive leopard. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to the renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve, offering spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife. This region showcases animals in the same super-abundance as a century ago. Arrive at your lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive until sunset. Enjoy meals and overnight stay at AA Lodge or equivalent.
Rise early for breakfast, then set out on a full day of game viewing. Visit the Mara River to observe hippos and other wildlife. For the adventurous, there's an optional early morning hot air balloon ride with a champagne-style breakfast (additional cost). Spend the whole day in the Maasai Mara with both morning and afternoon game drives, maximizing your wildlife viewing opportunities. Return to AA Lodge or equivalent for meals and overnight stay.
After breakfast, bid farewell to the Maasai Mara and drive back to Nairobi. Your final meal in Kenya will be a lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant, known as 'Meat Eaters Paradise' and celebrated as Africa's Greatest Eating Experience. After lunch, transfer to your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your onward journey. Our staff will see you off with a heartfelt "Kwaheri" (Swahili for goodbye), marking the end of your transformative charity safari.
Prepare by bringing appropriate clothing for working with children, any teaching materials you'd like to use, and a positive, flexible attitude. Consider learning a few basic Swahili phrases. We'll provide a detailed list of suggested items and activities based on the home's current needs.
Absolutely! We encourage bringing donations, but please consult with us first about the most needed items to ensure they're appropriate and useful.
Yes, we can facilitate ongoing communication if desired, respecting the home's policies and the children's privacy.
You'll stay in comfortable lodges with essential amenities. In Nairobi, you'll be at a city hotel, while on safari, you'll experience authentic safari lodges with stunning views of the surrounding wilderness.
In Lake Nakuru, expect to see flamingos, rhinos, and various bird species. The Maasai Mara offers opportunities to spot the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino) along with cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and numerous antelope species.
Many guests find this a highlight of their trip, offering unparalleled views of the landscape and wildlife. However, it's an additional cost and weather-dependent.
While the trip is available year-round, the best wildlife viewing is typically during the dry seasons (June to October and January to February). The famous wildebeest migration occurs in the Maasai Mara from July to October.
The missionary work can be moderately active, depending on the activities you choose. The safari portion involves sitting in vehicles for game drives, with optional short walks. Overall, it's suitable for most fitness levels.
Budget around $300-500 for souvenirs, optional activities, and tips. Remember to factor in any personal expenses and the cost of the balloon ride if interested.
We recommend drinking bottled water, which will be provided during your safari. In Nairobi, stick to bottled or boiled water.
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral colors for the safari. For the missionary work, bring modest, comfortable clothing suitable for working with children. Don't forget a warm layer for cool mornings and evenings.
Yes, most dietary needs can be met with advance notice. Please inform us of any restrictions when booking.
Photography policies vary by home. We'll provide specific guidelines to ensure children's privacy and dignity are respected.
Wi-Fi is typically available at the Nairobi hotel and some safari lodges, but may be limited or unavailable in more remote areas.
By participating in this trip, you're already making a positive impact. Additionally, respect local customs, support local businesses, and follow responsible tourism practices throughout your journey.
