Embark on a captivating 2-night safari to Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru, two of Kenya’s
stunning Rift Valley lakes. This compact trip from Nairobi offers a perfect blend of diverse
wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and unique ecosystems. Experience the serene beauty of Lake
Naivasha and the flamingo-rich waters of Lake Nakuru, home to a variety of wildlife including
rhinos.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. Drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley, stopping at viewpoints along the way. Arrive at your Lake Naivasha lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, getting close to hippos and watching for fish eagles and other water birds. Optional walking safari on Crescent Island. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for a morning game drive, looking out for the park's famous flamingos (seasonal) and other wildlife including white rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, and if you're lucky, tree-climbing lions. After lunch at your lodge, enjoy an afternoon game drive, exploring different areas of the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Start your day with an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, taking in the last views of the lake and its wildlife. After breakfast, begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. This marks the end of your Rift Valley Lakes safari experience.
These lakes can be visited year-round. However, for the best wildlife viewing, visit during the dry seasons (January-March and July-October). Flamingo numbers at Lake Nakuru vary seasonally and annually.
Flamingo populations at Lake Nakuru fluctuate due to changing water levels and food availability. While they're often present, sightings aren't guaranteed. Your guide will know the current conditions.
At Lake Naivasha, expect to see hippos, various water birds, and potentially zebras and antelopes. Lake Nakuru is home to white and black rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, lions, leopards, and numerous bird species.

Pack light, comfortable clothing in neutral colors, a warm jacket for early mornings, sturdy walking shoes, sun protection, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera with extra batteries.
While the risk is lower than in some other parts of Kenya, it's still recommended to take precautions. Consult your doctor about anti-malarial medication before your trip.
